Getting Around

Subway

The subway is the easiest and fastest way of moving around the city. Barcelona has got two different systems, the subway and the FGC, with two lines in Barcelona and four more lines going to nearby towns.

Transports Metropolitans Barcelona (TMB)
There are five lines of Metro, differed by a number and a color. In total 111 stations distributed by the whole city.

TMB - Metro

Taxi

Barcelona taxis are black with the yellow doors and a green light if they are free. There are about 8,000 cars and many stops in the city, mainly at hotels and in tourist areas. You can pick up a taxi at a stop or on the streets.
The meter (it is compulsory to use them) will indicate the price to pay, but an extra fee is charged when taking it at the airport or when you carry luggage with you, etc. Prices are shown on a sticker inside the cab.

Local Trains

There are two railroad companies: RENFE, the national network that offers services in most main cities, and some of the outskirts of Barcelona known as Rodalies - that are the proximity of Madrid. There is also the Talgo Joan Miro service: direct BCN-Paris, Pau Casals: BCN-Ginebra and Zurich, and Salvador Dali: BCN-Milan. Most of the high-speed trains leave from the Estaci - of Sants. FGC: Ferrocarrils of the Generalitat of Catalunya is a network of trains in the Catalan region and a network of suburban trains that work along side the Barcelona Metro. Both networks use the same stations.
